Throughout all the horrible things that happened, there were a few good things such as people who tried to rescue other Jews. The Danish decided to put together a rescue operation, in which Danish fishermen ferried some 7,200 Jews (of the country's total Jewish population of 7,800) to safety in neutral Sweden. Some European churches, orphanages, and families provided hiding places for Jews, and in some cases, individuals aided Jews already in hiding. (http://www.ushmm.org/wlc/en/) When I think of rescue and people helping to hide others Anne Frank comes to mind. There were people who tried to help Jews because of what they were going through. They were almost risking their lives to help others around them. In response to: Read and report about rescue efforts during the Holocaust.
