| The students in Ms. Riccardi's class wrote poems using the 5 W's. First we studied apples and their lifecycle as plants. Then we tasted different kinds of apples and graphed our preferences. Next we brainstormed ideas for each of the 5 W's-Who, What, When, Where, and Why. We wrote and illustrated our poems and then finally published them on the computer using The Amazing Writing Machine. We had a great time participating in this project and we hope you enjoy the "fruits" of our labor. | |

assessed in their ability to follow the format for writing a 5 W's poem with an
understanding of the subject in a logical order. Standards ELA 1 - Students will read, write, listen, and speak for information and understanding. ELA 2 - Students will read, write, listen, and speak for literary response and expression. ELA 4 - Students will read, write, listen, and speak for social interaction. M.S.T. 2 - Students will access, generate, process, and transfer information using appropriate technologies. M.S.T. 4 - Students will understand and apply scientific concepts, principles, and theories pertaining to the physical setting and living environment and recognize the historical development of ideas in science. The Arts 1 - Students will actively engage in the processes that constitute creation and performance in the arts and participate in various roles in the arts. |
