After reading
the book Hershey's Kisses Addition Book, we decided to
focus our activities on Hershey kisses. (We especially enjoyed
the ones with caramel inside them!)
As part of
our Math Investigations activities, the children used kisses to
show different ways to represent the number 10. (This activity
is usually done with cubes.) The pictures attached show some of
the combinations we created.
At our
writing center, children made up Hershey Kiss word problems.
Later, the word problems were typed up and printed on card
stock. The cards were then placed in a math center with a supply
of Hershey kisses. Children would go to the center to solve the
word problems using the kisses and record their answers on a
sheet of paper.
