This activity
was completed with a fourth grade inclusion class during a
weekly library lesson. For the month of September we read
Chocolate Fever, by Robert Kimmel Smith. After each reading
the class completed a short language arts activity that used
vocabulary and information from the book.
For week one
the class completed an alphabetizing worksheet; on week two the
class completed an activity on homophones; and on week three we
did a palindrome activity.
In October,
we talked about our favorite candies and what it is about the
candy that appeals to us. Everyone agreed that taste is
important, but we also discussed how the packaging is what first
catches our attention. The assignment was to use KidPix to
create their own brand of candy keeping in mind that the
packaging had to catch consumers' attention. The kids had a lot
of fun with this project.
