Happy Chocolating!
My class of 1st and 2nd graders enjoyed our study of chocolate...and so did I!
First, we learned how chocolate is made, starting with the cacao bean to becoming actual chocolate.
We then read the story Chocolatina, and created a web of Chocolatina's characteristics and events using Kidspiration. We had a great time talking about Chocolatina's health teacher.
Finally, the students wrote on the topic "I Am What I Eat!" Oh what a blast! The kids used WordPaint to complete their published copies, drawing his/herself as their favorite food. Oh, look out! My students do not want to be eaten like Chocolatina's health teacher was going to eat her.
