Teacher's Journal

April 20, 1998

My husband and I spent part of spring break on a safari in South Africa.    We spend a few days at Tshukudu Lodge in Pilanesberg National Park.  After that we enjoyed seeing the beautiful animals at Sabi Sabi's lodge, Selati.  Selati is located next to Kruger National Park. In additon to our photographs, we also made a video of our trip for my students to enjoy.

I was invited to join a panel at the School Tech Exposition and Conference in Manhattan, New York. The discussion was "Why Build A School Web Site?" It was very gratifying to show this website, along with my collaborative projects to the conference attendees.

Today I found out that I am a winner of a New York State Models Schools Teacher Integration Award. My name will be added to the directory of New York State Model Schools Integration Specialists. This award was given for creating A Winter Wonderland. The purpose of this competition is "to measure on a regional basis, the depth and breadth of technology applications, and how the focus of this work is connected to learning standards and assessment, across all grade levels." As a prize, we will be getting a color printer!    Needless to say, I am totally thrilled to be a recipient of this award.
