Mrs. Cobb's Second Grade Class

For several years my second graders have participated in an intergenerational project.  We visit a local senior citizens daycare center twice a year and the seniors come to our school for a picnic in June.   It is indeed heartwarming to witness the interaction between the seniors and the children.  They play games, read stories, dance and sing together.  During the holidays they exchange greetings and on Valentine's Day the messages of love, caring and friendship are evidenced as in some of the Valentine cards shown here.  Our PTA has generously paid for the cost of busing us to the daycare center.  If you have a daycare center in your community, why not explore getting involved in a similiar project offering rich rewards to all.  I welcome questions or comments.  Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions. Thank you Susan Silverman for allowing us to share this with you.
