Passage Master: Chapter 2 On pp.20-21, a detailed description of Count Olaf's house is given. I chose this passage because it vivdly describes how gloomy and unwelcoming the house appears to the children, which is not what they were hoping for, especially after seeing the beautiful house of Justice Strauss next door. The children have just lost their parents, and by the looks of the house they are about to live in, it doesn't seem like anything positive is about to happen.
