I was the literary illuminator for chapter eight. I chose four words from this chapter to enrich the reader's vocabulary. The first word I chose was on page 94, it is fitfully. It is defined in the book as "with much tossing and turning." This was how Violet was sleeping. I think this word gives you a good picture of how she's sleeping. You wouldn't get the full picture if you did not know what fitfully meant. The second word I chose was also on page 94. It is associate, which means one joined with another or others in action, enterprise of business; a companion. You can guess at the meaning of this word in its context but alone it may cause trouble. I think it is a good word to know and I like the way it sounds. The next word I chose was also defined in the book, it is nuptial(on page 96). This means relating to marriage. I doubt most children have heard of this word before and although it is defined in the text I think it is important to point out. The last word I chose was outburst and it was on page 98. Outburst means a sudden violent display, as of emotion or activity. I know there is a game for kids called Outburst so some children may know what it means. I really like this word and I think we sometimes use it wrong since it is supposed to be a "violent" display. Those are all the words I illuminated in chapter eight.
