I am the connector for this chapter. During this chapter Mr. Poe brings the children to Count Olaf's house, but at first they thought it was Justice Strauss' house they were getting dropped off at. Their hopes were at an all-time high for the first time since their parents had passed away. However they soon discovered that Justice Strauss' beautiful house was only the Count's neighbor. The Count's house was filthy and a bit creepy. This made me think of all the times when I have gotten my hopes up for something, only to have them let down. Examples when this has happened could be when I thought I was getting something specific for Christmas that I had wanted, and when I opened my presents that particular gift I was looking foward to was nowhere to be found. I know events such as this example has happened to just about everyone.
