Literary Illuminator Grotesque: Outlandish or bizarre, as in character or appearance (pg13) I chose this word because it is a very descriptive adjective that students might not know the meaning of. I also think it will reappear later in the story so I thought it was important that students understand the definition from the beginning. Ghastly: Inspiring shock, revulsion, or horror by or as if by suggesting death This is another colorful adjective that I thought might show up again. Dilapidated:Having fallen into a state of disrepair or deterioration, as through neglect; broken-down and shabby. Even I was unsure of the exact definition of this word. So I am pretty sure students will have trouble with it. In response to: Please describe your thoughts on this chapter from your literature circle role perspective.
