I chose the role of DISCUSSION DIRECTOR for CHAPTER 8. Here are some thought-provoking, open-ended questions to reflect upon before you read Chapter 9: 1.) Imagine for a moment that you are Klaus Baudelaire. You have been through a great deal thus far, perhaps more so than your two siblings. You have been struck by Count Olaf and threatened by the hook-handed man. Now, it is up to YOU to read and study the law book to find out what evil scheme Count Olaf is concocting. What do you do next, and more importantly, how are you feeling? 2.) What do you suspect happened to Sunny, and are you suspicious of Count Olaf's involvement in her disappearance? 3.) At this point in the story, do you feel hopeful that the Baudelaire children will be able to overthrow Count Olaf's plan of marrying Violet for the inheritance? Why or why not? Is there any evidence to support your view? In response to: Please describe your thoughts on this chapter from your literature circle role perspective.
