Autumn is lovely in the Finger Lakes
region of New York State. Second graders in Mrs. Rosati’s class
in Bloomfield learned about a new software package in preparing
their project for Fall into Autumn.
MaxWrite is a wonderful program for creating Microsoft Word
documents. It has larger icons, a drawing tool and
text-to-speech reader that make it very kid-friendly. In class,
students read or listened to favorites such as The Seasons of
Arnold’s Apple Tree by Gail Gibbons, Fall by Ron
Hirschi, and Why Do Leaves Change Colors? by Betsy
Maestro. Then students drew fall pictures using the
MaxPaint feature in
MaxWrite and wrote stories about the season. A few samples
