Since most classes only visit the lab once a week it took a while to complete our project, but the children did a wonderful job! When fall started we discussed the signs of fall. We listened to the story, Fall Changes, by Ellen B. Senisi, to see if our assumptions were correct. The children proceeded to compose sense poems about the new season. The next step was to introduce and review the basic tools of Kid Pix. The children then wrote and illustrated their poems in the program. I have selected some examples from two of my second grade classes. One of the classes also participated in The Journey North project, to monitor the migration of the butterflies to Mexico for the change of season. They made butterflies to send to Mexican students to arrive the same time as the real monarch butterflies. The change of seasons has been very exciting and educational this year thanks to technology!
