Miss Taormina and Mrs. Scorzelli's Kindergarten Class
Boyle Road Elementary School
Port Jefferson Station, New York

Autumn was an exciting time for the students in Mrs. Scorzelli's kindergarten class. In preparation for a field trip to the farm, students learned the different parts of a pumpkin plant.  They participated in labeling a pumpkin plant diagram on chart paper.  After returning from an action packed field trip, students used their artistic talents as they painted their hand-picked pumpkins. Under the supervision of media specialist Nicole Taormina, kindergarten students along with  their 4th grade buddies worked as graphic designers to create autumnal scenes with Kid Pix. As a culminating activity, the children sampled apples and made predictions on which variety of apples were their most favorite. Students sampled the apples and graphed their taste preferences with Create a Graph.
