Three Cheers for Tacky
by Helen Lester
Three Cheers For Tacky is a delightful book about how a persons, or in this case, a penguins differences from the rest of the group can be an advantage to all. Tacky is a very different penguin from the others in his class and when Tackys class is invited to participate in a Penguin Cheering contest everyone is worried about his performance. Our class either invented and illustrated their own penguin cheers for Tacky, or created new Tacky characters of their own! | |

Tacky the Butterfly
Tacky the Butterfly was so messy! She had pink and blue wings. All of the butterflies made fun of her wings. She cried so, so, so much. She had to run away. When she was running away, she saw a Blue Jay. She said to the Blue Jay, "Do you want to be my friend?" The Blue Jay said, "Yes, I would like to be your friend!" So they took off and played a lot. Her wings changed color. They are now black and orange! By Cassandra and Emily |

Tacky the Polar Bear There was Ditsy, Perfect, Lazy, and Sneezy. But do you know who was the oldest of them all? It was Tacky the Polar Bear. One day, Perfect jumped on top of Tacky while he was doing his homework. Tacky got mad! He sent Perfect to his room! A few days later, Tackys parents went on vacation. They left Tacky in charge. One day he heard screaming. He went running! It was Ditsy, Perfect, and Lazy, but the loudest was Sneezy! (He was the youngest of them all.) They didnt know how to swim yet and they tried to go swimming. Tacky quickly swam over and carried them up to land. His parents thanked him. He got an award!
