Mr. Popper's Penguins

As part of our Winter/Penguins thematic unit, we read Mr. Popper's Penguins by Richard and Florence Atwater. How we loved this book and especially learning all about these endearing birds!

Some of the many activities we did include:
-creating a 5 W's poem to summarize each chapter of Mr. Popper's Penguins
-creating a graphic organizer on Kidspiration to summarize the characters in Mr. Popper's Penguins using the 5 W's format
-researching and illustrating different types of penguins using information gathered from  Perfectly Puzzling Penguins and following directions on the Penguin Worksheet
-using Kid Pix to make our own penguin pictures

As a culminating activity, we look forward to making our own life-sized penguins, finishing our KWL chart, and of course, having a Penguin Party!

Here are some samples of our work.
