I read The Mitten Tree by Candace Christiansen to my first
graders. Our class was doing a study on poetry. We discussed
that some poems rhyme and others describe things. We wrote some
poems about mittens and typed them using Microsoft Word. In the
computer lab each child drew and decorated his/her mitten using
Paint. We then used the mittens to decorate our poems. We had a
great time learning about mittens, poetry, and technology all in
one study!
