Mrs. Wishy-Washy by Joy Cowley

We chose to write a sequel to the book, Mrs. Wishy-Washy, by Joy Cowley. After reading it a few times, as read-aloud, we discussed the setting of the story and whether we would see various animals on the farm. Next, we brainstormed ideas to write our own version. We decided to rewrite it using different animals. We listed the class suggestions and voted on them. We also decided to put a twist on the story’s ending!

Mrs. Wishy-Washy
By Mrs. Jansen’s Kindergarten Class

“Oh, lovely mud,” said the horse,

and she jumped in it.

“Oh, lovely mud,” said the goat,

and he rolled in it.

“Oh, lovely mud,” said the dog,

and she paddled in it.

“Oh, lovely mud,” said the rooster,

and he flew in it.

 Along came Mrs. Wishy-Washy.

“Just look at you!” she screamed. “In the tub you go.”

In went the horse, wishy-washy, wishy-washy.

In went the goat, wishy-washy, wishy-washy.

In went the dog, wishy-washy, wishy-washy.

In went the rooster, wishy-washy, wishy-washy.

 “That’s better,” said Mrs. Wishy-Washy.

 Away went the horse.

Away went the goat.

Away went the dog.

Away went the rooster.

“Oh, lovely mud,” said Mrs. Wishy-Washy and she sat in it!.
