Jack or a “Knock-Off?”
Our class read one of the
Original versions of the story Jack And The Beanstalk, as retold by
Ann Keay Beneduce. We discussed the basic story elements, and then
proceeded to read several “Knock-Off” (Jack Stories with a different
Twist) versions of the story. We were so amused by stories such as
Look Out Jack The Giant is Back, and Jack and The Giant, a
Story Full Of Beans , that we decided to write our own
“Knock-Off” version. We tried to write a story that would be the
Opposite of the traditional Jack Stories.
Here is a “brief” version of our story:

            JACKIE AND THE JETPACK
Once upon a time there was a
            girl named
Jackie. She lived with her father.
They were very rich. They lived in
Hawaii. Father told Jackie to take
            their chicken to the
            grocery store and get some
bean seeds. On the way to the grocery
store, Jackie met a woman who switched
Jackie’s bean seeds for pineapple seeds.

Jackie’s dad was very happy about what
Jackie had done. Dad planted the
Pineapple seeds. The next minute Jackie
noticed the seeds were dead, but there
was a jet pack on the ground. She used
the jet pack and flew into the mountains.
She came to a small hut with a poor
            Tom Thumb sized farmer. Jackie
gave the little farmer gold, furniture
and rubies. They became friends and
            lived ever after!

            CAN YOU SPOT AN ORIGINAL
            FROM A KNOCK-OFF ?
