Avalanche

My third grade students and I read aloud the story Avalanche by Michael J. Rosen.  We discussed the different nouns, verbs, and adjectives that were used in the story.  Since this story is an alphabet book, the students brainstormed ideas for their own winter parts of speech alphabet book.  Then each student created one page for each letter of the alphabet using the winter words they had decided to use.  They underlined nouns in red, circled adjectives in blue, and boxed in verbs in green.  Once they finished their alphabet book pages, they categorized vocabulary words from the story Avalanche into nouns, verbs, and adjectives.  Click HERE to see our entire book.
