This winter hasn’t been much of a winter for New England. We have had fifty-degree temperatures and the students are longing for the first snow day. Reading the Heart of the Arctic and comparing our winter to the winter in the story the class became sad. We read the story as a shared reading and completed a Kidspiration activity on our family compared to the polar bear family in the story.

We used our winter words to create an acrostic poem using information about traditional winter in New York State.
