We are Ms. Marcott's
kindergarten class from South Hamilton Schools in Jewell, Iowa. We
read Home for a Bunny by Margaret Wise Brown. The story below
is our sequel entitled A New Home for Two Bunnies. We hope
you enjoy reading it!
The bunny lived with his friend in his
new home. He was very
happy. But one day,
while the two bunnies were taking a walk, a weasel came and took
over their den!
When
the bunnies returned they said, "Hey, this is our den!"
"It's
mine now!" said the weasel.
So
the bunnies went to find a new home.
"Where is your home?" they asked the deer who was
eating some bark.
"I
live in the woods and rest in the clearing," said the deer.
"Not
for us," said the bunnies.
"There's no place for us to hide."
So
they went on looking for a new home.
"Where is your home?" they asked the raccoon who
was catching fish by the stream.
"I
live in a tree with my babies," said the raccoon.
"Not
for us," said the bunnies.
"We might fall out."
So
they went on looking for a new home.
"Where is your home?" they asked the beaver who was
eating some plants.
"I
live under the water in a lodge.
I built it with my friends," said the beaver.
"Not
for us," said the bunnies.
"We can't swim under water."
So
they went on looking for a new home.
As they hopped along, they saw a coyote coming out of his
burrow. They knew that
coyotes EAT bunnies, so they ran away as fast as they could!
After
the coyote was gone, the bunnies went on looking for a new home. "Where is your home?" they asked a baby fox.
"I
live in a den next to that big tree," said the baby fox.
"Can
we come in?" asked the bunnies.
"No!
My mom would eat you!" said the baby fox.
So
the bunnies went on looking for a new home.
Then they had an idea. "Hey,"
said one bunny. "Remember
the beavers? They built
their own home. We
could build our own home."
"Good
idea!" said the other bunny.
So
the two rabbits found a big rock and started digging.
They worked very hard and at the end of the day, they had
their new home.
The
two bunnies went inside and went to sleep
