Q1: What has changed since 1893 on the Brooklyn Bridge compared to today?
A1:  The people in the picture are walking instead of driving cars.  Some of them are in horse and wagon.  The lighting fixtures are different.  All of the men are wearing hats that were common in that period and the boys are wearing knickers.

Q2:  What is the connection between the scene depicted in this picture and one you may have seen on Sept. 11, 2001?
A2:  On September 11th many people walked across the bridge to get out of NYC.  It was one of the only ways to leave during this disaster.

Q1: What has changed since 1893 on the Brooklyn Bridge compared to today?
A1:  In 1893, The Brooklyn was utilized for pedestrian traffic; people could walk to Manhattan from Brooklyn to their jobs (back and forth). Today, of course, it is used for vehicles-there aren't many people who walk on it, and it is used by people from all over New York State that are passing through, not just those that work in Manhattan.

Q2: What is the connection between the scene depicted in this picture and one you may have seen on Sept. 11, 2001?
A2:  The scene above looks like the photos of September 11, 2001 in that people were running from Manhattan after the bombings of the Twin Towers.  They were looking to escape from the disaster and had to use the Brooklyn Bridge (by foot) to get away from the explosions and fallout.  They would not use their vehicles as many of the streets were blocked by rescue workers.

Q1: What has changed since 1893 on the Brooklyn Bridge compared to today?
A1: Today, the bridge is not used for pedestrian traffic.  Present means for transportation is mostly cars, buses, taxis, etc.

Q2: What is the connection between the scene depicted in this picture and one you may have seen on Sept. 11, 2001?
A2:  The Brooklyn Bridge, like the Twin Towers, is a landmark of our city.  A symbol of pride and our heritage.  Possibly a target to terrorists due to the large number of people who use it on a daily basis.

Q1: What has changed since 1893 on the Brooklyn Bridge compared to today?
A1:  What has changed on the Brooklyn Bridge since 1893 is the type of traffic on the bridge.  People crossed the bridge by foot or with horses and horse and carriages.  Today most of the traffic is from cars, trucks and buses.  Some people still walk or ride bikes across the bridge.

Q2: What is the connection between the scene depicted in this picture and one you may have seen on Sept. 11, 2001?
A2:  After the attacks on September 11, 2001, people wanted to get away from the area and home to their families.  Most of these people were commuters, but because the trains stopped running the only option was to walk until they were out of the city.  The picture shows many people crossing the bridge which is what numerous people needed to do on September 11, 2001.
