Assessment

To meet the objective of poetry created by the children, the children first were asked to create a taxonomy of fall words. They worked cooperatively.  After class discussion of their taxonomies, the children were shown thefollowing model, which the teacher and the class fill in together.
Fall I hear _____
I see
I smell
I feel
Each student filled in their phrases using their taxonomy. After they were completed, the teacher crossed out the words I hear, I see, I smell, and I feel, leaving just the descriptive phrases they had added. Then children typed their poems on the computer.
