My Friend Joey

One day when I was walking in the woods I saw a short eared owl. The owl said, "Hi Danielle." I couldn't believe it. I said, "Hi, what's your name?" The owl said, "My name is Joey, do you want to play?" I said, "I can't because I have a soccer game. Do you want to come?" The owl said, "I would love to come but I have to go home. We said good-bye and I went to my soccer game and Joey went home.

Once upon a time a baby owl was with her mom. The baby owl flew away and got lost. The baby owl cried and cried. Then a short- eared owl came and helped the baby owl. The short-eared owl didn't know where the baby owl lived. A snowy owl came and said, "I know where he lives," he lives in the third tree next to the apple tree." Her mom was there. "Where have you been" she said. It was a long story and they lived happily ever after.

Owls, owls everywhere
In the deep dark night
We can feel their glare
High up on a branch in a tree
Those owls up there don't scare me!

Owls come out at night and sleep all day.
If you get too close it will fly away.
Some eat mice and some eat fish.
But owls will never eat out of a dish.
Some are brown and some are white
If they hoot they give me a fright!
