Letters to our Keypals in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada

Dear Jesse,

Do you like owls? Well, if you do, you will like this: a great horned owl can squeeze with 800 lbs. of pressure and go through bones. We got to take apart owl pellets. Owl pellets are when an owl eats some kind of animal, and then it rolls it up inside. Then they throw it up. And then it is an owl pellet. The owl pellet is all bones. Owls have big eyes. They have green eyes. Owls can kill an eagle, and then take over
its nest. My favorite owl is a barn owl. Barn owls are cool. Great horned owls have tufts.

Your keypal,
Taylor
Dear Kaitlin,

I am a new girl, and I am happy we learned all about owls. The great horned owl can eat a house cat. I liked looking at the bones. They are cool. We found a mouse in the pellet. It was very exciting!

Your keypal,
Heather
Dear Krisztina,

The great horned owl can crush with 800 pounds of pressure. The great horned owl can kill an eagle. The great horned owl can go over our heads, and you can not even hear it. The great horned owl's feathers are soft.

Your keypal,
Ryan E.
Dear Ashley,

Did you know owls have three eye lids? I love owls. Do you? Did you know that an owl's claw can go right through your arm and come out the other side? If it's a great horned owl, that is!

Your keypal,
Evan
Dear Cheyenne,

I am learning about owls. I am learning about owl pellets. What are you learning about?

Your keypal,
Kayla
Dear Dakoda,

I am learning about owls. It is fun! Dan the Owl Man came and did some slides, and we dissected owl pellets. I liked Dan the Owl Man. We are learning about the great horned owl. The claws are called talons. In my owl pellet, I found mouse bones and fur. I like the great horned owl.

Your keypal,
Jeff
Dear Kyle,

We have been writing about owls. We took apart owl pellets. Most of us got skulls. Owls are cool. They don't build nests. They use another bird's nest. Do you like owls?

Your keypal,
Grant
