Miss Rumphius

After reading Miss Rumphius by Barbara Cooney, the class discussed what they could do to the make the world more beautiful. Because of the model in the book, many of the student’s initial responses had to do with what flower they would plant. However, as we read more books about the earth, they realized planting flowers was not the only way to make the world more beautiful. We tried to concentrate on what we could do to help the earth, sea and sky. We used Kidpix Deluxe to create pictures with a combination of drawn and stamped images. The students are becoming quite comfortable using a variety of tools:

Wacky pencil
 Rectangle
 Paint Can
 Eraser
Stamp Pad
The “Undo’ Guy
Goodies Menu

Don't Hunt Animals That Might Become Extinct

Cut down on the amount of smoke coming from factories

When you cut down a tree plant a new one.

Don’t throw garbage in the water.
