Our journey to Te Anau was long but breathtakingly beautiful. At our first stop, forty kilometers south of Oamaru lie the Moeraki Boulders. Along the drive we saw green rolling hills, grazed by sheep. I never saw so many sheep before! Although I am a vegetarian it was comforting to see the livestock in New Zealand free ranged. Later on in our drive we saw many fruit farms and had the most delicious organically grown sweet red cherries. Along our drive we saw fields of beautiful wild flowers. The purple lupines were my favorite as you can tell by the background of this page. We saw some awesome waterfalls, cascading streams, and the rainforest. We also had our first opportunity of meeting the kea. The kea is a large parrot that is very inquisitive, to say the least! | ||
