Mrs. Elliott's second graders read
about Wilbur and Orville Wright through: Let's Fly, Wilbur and
Orville by Peter and Connie Roop and The Wright Brothers and the
History of Aviation by Cooblestone. The students built paper
airplanes, measured the distance each flew and made a graph showing the
results. ( the graph is one of the attachments). The students created
"plane" jigsaw puzzles the other classes may go to and have
some fun. Click HERE!
After brainstorming the highlights of the Wright Brothers lives, each student chose one to illustrate and write about. They were then made into a class book. We were lucky enough to have a dad, who is a pilot and works at a transportation museum where there is a replica of the Flyer, come in and give a presentation. Please visit our website to find out more about our Wright Brothers unit.
We will be taking a field trip to the museum shortly after Christmas break. |
