Eric passed the ball to Andrew. Andrew shot the ball from behind the two point line. The ball hit the backboard, and bounced off quickly to hit the front of the rim. Then, slowly the ball popped up, heading directly over the basket. Bounce, the ball hit the side of the rim closer to the backboard, and slowly bounced up to the front of the rim again. Swish! The ball went in the hoop. Andrew just hit a two pointer to win the game.
“Woo wee!” yelled the three boys, as they were jumping for joy.
“Yes! We get our ball back and we won fair and square,” said Frankie.
The Bike Gang kicked their ball, but let them have it back and surprisingly only walked away muttering words under their breath. Then, they jumped on their bikes and started heading to Gino’s pizzeria.
Andrew, Eric, and Frankie were ecstatic. They took their ball back and headed for home. They were very proud of themselves.
“Hey, it’s kind of like what Mr. Trillo (their 6th grade teacher) always said. We can do anything we put our mind to, as long as we work together and believe in ourselves,” said Andrew.
A few days went by and the boys would continue to go to Champ’s park to swim, play sports, and enjoy their summer before entering Coolville Middle School.
